Sustainabol: branding a sustainability festival (without being boring)

No overused green, no vague slogans: how we built a pop, modular identity for a festival about the ecological transition.

Sustainabol is a festival about environmental and social sustainability, held in the industrial spaces of DumBO in Bologna. It brought together associations, companies, activists and citizens. It was organized by The RoOom, with Fondazione Barberini and DumBO as partners. We were trusted with the entire visual identity and communication.

Making the ecological transition exciting

Sustainability communication often all looks the same: dull graphics, overused green palettes, vague slogans. We wanted a recognizable, energetic and contemporary system, with a pop tone that could speak to everyone.

We built a modular brand system to fit the festival's many formats: talks, workshops, exhibitions, markets and performances. Sharp contrasts, bold typography and industrial textures that echo the DumBO spaces.

  • Print: posters, infographics, totems and signage
  • Digital assets for social media and newsletters
  • A landing page to find your way through the program and sign-ups

Coordinated communication and community

With The RoOom we defined an accessible tone of voice, close to people and free of rhetoric. The plan covered before, during and after: posts, stories, reels, carousels and countdowns, to raise awareness, drive attendance and showcase the organizations involved.

A team effort

For us, Sustainabol was more than a branding project: it's proof that sustainability can be told well, authentically and without frills.
